With us in Wuhan for 6 weeks and back to Singapore, He is the person that ensure our safety throughout the trip. Though he reprimanded us, we all know that he meant well for us. He cracks jokes along the trip and constantly telling us the trips we went after we came back. I believe that this trip was made a smooth one as there was a man behind the stage ensuring everything is alright and the man is Mr Wong CC. He made this trip a pleasant one that I will have a deep impression of this trip and our trip leader and not to forget he is my MENTOR for GRP A.

6 weeks has past and we had been living under one roof in the same room. We had quarrels and most of the time we came to an conclusion and i feel our friendship bond get closer by the end of the trip. Thanks to both of you who taught me a lot of valuable things and stuff.

though we had quarrels, all still come to an end and we still get back as good friends throughout the trip. You always give me the last push for me to go for things that i do not dare to step forward and gave me confidence in myself that i can do it in many many things. Once again, THANKS CLIVE!!!! HAHA

2. Randolph

though most of the times we had different views and opinions on matters, we will still come up with an conclusion that both of us are satisfied with. As the weeks past by, from my point of view, i believe we know how to give and take so our friendship becomes better. You share alot of things with us and from you, i know how to better care for a person. Be Happy always!!

Rushed all the way from wuhan to GuangZhou then rush to our plane in GuangZhou as we are delayed in Wuhan by about 2 hours and we were late for our boarding time for about 15 mins.

Off we fly off from china.. BYE china.
In the flight, memories of wuhan start to play again in my mind.

I really MISS WUHAN ALOT!!!

Day 40 - Last day shopping

This is our second last day in Wuhan, but to all of us it is considered as last day of everything - shopping, playing, having fun, eating good food and interaction and communication. There might not be another chance to do these things again. Shopping in China has a shiok feeling and nice to bargain to the price we want!!

Went to Han Zheng Jie for the last time before heading back to Singapore tomorrow.
tops here are much cheaper here and some are nicer than Singapore's.
Nice and Cheap, why not buy more right??
I bought TWO pairs of shoes, 1 long sleeve shirt, 2 t-shirt, 5 pair of socks and a jersey.
Cool?? HAHA.. :D

then head back to school and went for massage on feet and the back of the body.
went because i want to know what is wrong with my body so when i get back to Singapore, i can do something about it. After that went to cut hair. The initial plan was to cut hair but the hairstylist recommend me to perm my hair so that the outcome will be nicer. But I did not know the whole process will be so long and after perming and cutting my hair. Sorry Mr Wong!!

Got back and pack up the rest of the things and try my best to squeeze all of my things into my luggage with Rand's bag in and Hajar's Hairdryer and wooden stuff. And i managed to zip my luggage and went out to weigh it and to my astonishment it was only 19.5kg.

I plan not to sleep the whole night just to think about things that happen throughout the 6 weeks and of course Singapore!!

Day 39 - Farewell/Appreciation party and Rocco's Birthday

Stayed in the room for the whole day while my roommates went back to Han Zheng Jie again.
I continue to pack up my area, bed and the upper area where i put my stuff. I just slacked the whole day in the room, looking at blog and listening to music.

Thinking of how time has past so fast and things that happened along the way, i start to miss alot of things here, in China. I am going to miss

times spent with Rand and live in room (RooM 222) doing stupid things and laughters throughout the room and singing session
food at the back alley
food at Ni Nan restaurant ( NEXT BATCH OF OIP STUDENTS, should go try it)
times spent with OIP peeps and local student
lifestyle in wuhan, being independent in many ways and tolerate one another as we stay under one same roof.

Went to have dinner then go collect the cake for later's party. The cake was 3 cakes tall and was fruit toppings on it. Healthier choice! HAHA.. =D

then went to farewell party to appreciate WUST and their students for their past 6 weeks of good reception and being a good host. Preparing and planning things for us and even forking out their personal time and study time to help us in anything they can. So we arranged this party for them to thank them for their efforts and hosting. Without them, i believe this 6 weeks would not be a memorable and fun one for everyone of us.

I told them that when they come to Singapore next year, i will make their trip a enjoyable one and host them just like how they host us and even better.

THANK YOU ALL, WUST STUDENTS!!!! YOU ALL MADE AN DIFFERENCE IN MY STAY IN WUHAN!!

Day 38 - BPE last presentation

today was the last presentation for the module, BPE.
so we decided to come in formal attire with tie on.
It went rather smooth for us and I presented better than the first 2.
After presentation, we took pictures in class with the rest as almost all of us were in smart attire. We are a rather fun group with many 'stunts' for taking photos together.

After we quickly head for Han Zheng Jie for our start of shopping days before we left for Singapore on Sunday. A group of 12 of us went together, i guess that was the only time that we go out together in such a big group. After walking through Han Zheng Jie, we went to Zhong Shan Da Dao to shop. I brought a converse shoe from the same shop again where i bought my nike shoe.

Shopping and shopping till 7plus in the night and we went to mac to settle for dinner as i guess it was the cheapest and easieat to eat in the city area. After eating, the rest went back while Winson, Hui Miang, Meng zhen and I continued to shop. I can tell you, Mengzhen is really a good shopper. She can shop the whole day without complaining her legs are tired. HAHA.. =D

Then head back for school and do some blogging for the past few days since I have not done it because of doing assignment 3.
I am also 70% done with my packing, left some clothes, shoes and food.
Hope I can squeeze all in!

Day 37 - 'Hostel' Day

Stayed in hostel for the whole day and for meals, we did not even go till Jian Er road to eat. We eat at back street for all the meals on that day.

In the morning, went to class to take group photo with the rest of oip group. Because GROUP A dearest group leader is leaving for beijing in the afternoon.

We worked on the simulation software for quite sometime and finally we got the answer we wanted in evening. In the afternoon, Randolph decided to make new spectacles as in China it is very cheap to make one.

Shall continued on with our assignment 3 presentation slides and report.
4 more days we will be back in Singapore!!

To all WUST students, work hard and all the best in your future! Hope to see most of your in Singapore next year! They really impacted me and I learned alot from them. They are hardworking in their studies and always very helpful to us during our stay here. Through this OIP trip and interaction with them, they taught me how to be more confident in my future and be Singapore's future generation of leaders and bring Singapore to higher level in the world. I really feel that this trip has increases my confidence in my future that I can do my part for my country.

Day 36 - Team Buidling & Character building

We went to WUST - Zhong Nan Campus for our activities today.
It was all about teamwork and character building.

This is where the ECE students stay in their 6 weeks in China. Their buildings are so much brighter in colour than our campus and their surroundings scenery are beautiful. But their major disadvantage is they are far away from the city area and takes about 45mins - 1 hour to reach the city area. So i still prefer our campus where it is still near to city area and back our dorm there is a food street and we can just go down and eat tasty food.

After reaching, we splitted into 4 groups with mde, lsct and ece students mixed up into different groups. i have learned a new way to divide a group of people into different groups. HAHA.
Our first assignment was to think of a name, group cheer and draw the group flag.
My group is called the SPONGEBOBES. why? because partly our flag we got yellow colour so we thought of spongebob and second reason was absorb the water which means like building up your character and teamwork.

next was a game that was just using newspaper to make a tank wheel. We need to travel an amount of distance like how the tank the move(with the newspaper over our head and going under our feet in rounds and rounds.after was lunch. Opposite the Zhong Nan campus, there are many restaurants that sells fishball. The street opposite the school is famous for fresh fishball. So we decided to go try out and we find the fishball was ok only but the soup is superb. But eating there is also not cheap. Still prefer Ni Nan restaurant which is just 10mins walk from school.

After lunch, we slacked awhile before we start the team building game (trust fall) and elements games. Lastly, we had rock climbing and i enjoyed it the most!

After that, we had a walk along the lake beside their school. The scenery is very good for taking nice photos. So for our group, we took individual shoots for our movie. For me, i play with the settings of my camera that is going to 2 years old (considered quite old for technology). I took sun setting photos. It is relaxing time by the lake, seeing the sun set.

this yellow flowers that we see along the expressway or railway or some where, it is not just some flower. It is a part of cookind that helps to make the food tasty.

IT IS VEGETABLE OIL.
we heard it from the guide in lulin when we asked her about why is there so many yellow flowers or grass around.
the yellow petals is squeezed and what comes out is healthier vegetable oil.

Day 34 to 35 - LuLin Mountain Resort

Day 34

meeting time was 8am at the main gate.
so we decided to go get breakfast at the food street and once we step out of the school, we saw the road down was very misty. visibility i think is only 200 meters or so. Then off we go for Lulin on a 4 hour plus ride. The ride was really an ultimate roller coaster bus ride. The bus driver will drive to the another lane which vehicles are going the opposite way just to overtake the front cars. AND he likes to horn like free. HAHA. XD.. But if he does not drive like how fast he drives, i think we will reach later than that.

Once we reached the mountain resort, we head for lunch first and after then was to the room. As usual, the rooms in the trips that we went was very comfortable and the bed is the best. After laying on the bed, I will continue resting on it. After that we went for walk to see the scenery of Lulin and river flows with rocks along the course and waterfalls and some rocks features. During the walk, i got injured and quite a number of people came to help and ask me how am i. I am very touched by everyone's care. THANKS EVERYONE!!

We also take quite a number of group shots for our movie maker. Saw the 2 special waterfall - Lovers waterfall and Beauty waterfall. After scenery was the walk around the Lulin mountain resort where there is still people living there. And after that we went back for dinner at the same place as lunch. After dinner, there is a activity that perform for the people that visit lulin to see. The performers are from Vietnam but they can speak fluent chinese. We even had campfire and everyone's spirit was high and we all started to dance around the fire after the performers led us. it was the highlights of the night when they started to perform stunts like standing on the knife blade with a 80kg person on him and keeping jumping and stepping on shattered glass and they are fine, with no injuries.

After was singing session for the people. Clive went up to sing after much persuasion from Mr loh and us. Many others went and this is how the first night ended.

Day 35

We got to check out of the nice room in the morning and left the resort for good.
Today was tour in Lulin. It will be climbing mountains again but shorter compared to Mt Wudang. The tour guide told us that you cannot say you are tired until you reach the highest point in Lulin and once you reached the summit, you will be either a hero or heroine. LAong the way to the summit, we visited many interesting and amazing natural things.

Then after reaching the summit, we went back for lunch only and off we go to the last vist in this tour which is a cave visit. It is a limestone cave. Seen before in New Zealand. It is really very magnificant with the features formed by the rocks.

After that was ride back to school. Again the bus driver like to change lanes very quickly and horn like no one business. But i would say his driving skills is good. Bascially, in china the drivers are so called trained to drive 'carefully'. HAHA. XD.

Reached back school at around 745pm and wen to Ni Nan for dinner and back to room to continied on assignment 3 and presentation will be either on wednesday or thursday. All the way!!

In lulin, there is a longest vine in the world. It is called Fu Mang Vine and it has a history of 2000 years. 2000 years is way too long back!!!

Day 32 to 33 - 'Chill' & Relax Days

Day 32 - Shop Spree

After our assignment 2 presentation, we decided to go for a short shopping around the Han Zheng Jie area. In the morning, I decided to go for a jog at the stadium opposite our dorm. the usual people that went are Clive, Hui Miang, Meng Zhen and Ci Min (which is their photographer and timer). She just sit there see us run and listen to her music. Today, Xiang Yu also joined us.

After that, we met up with Rand, Masita, Hajar and Pei Jie to go shopping. We take a van there as we find it faster or maybe cheaper. But it can accomdate 6 of us. We reached there and walked to Grand Ocean for our start of the shopping day. We shopped from this shopping mall to another and keep hopping ot another till went to this hopping mall and found something that we all bought at different stores.

After much shopping, we decided to go Ajisen to eat for lunch as we wanted t eat Ramen for quite sometime since we leave Singapore. It wasalready drizzling when we came out from the mall and we dashed to Grand Ocean for lunch.
Ordered a special dish that is scalop ramen. It was quite nice as Singapore does not have this dish. We also ordered Green tea Ice-cream. We all like it alot and it was wonderful lunch.

After lunch we continued to walk down to the place last time where Rand and Clive bought their belts. The rain was getting heavier and we decied to walk faster to get our belts and off we go back for Mr Loh's apartment where we had dinner there, It was our oip gathering there where we had Singapore's curry chicken cooked by Mr Wong. It was very nice and it bring back my memories of singapore delicious food. Cannot wait to eat them when i get back!!

When we get to Mr Loh's apartment, the rest was watching Red Cliff 2 and we started to eat the dinner. THANKS TO THOSE WHO PREAPRED AND COOKED THE DISHES!! It was very nice and wonderful. After eating, I washed the dishes with Hajar and they started to have small mini KTV session with Mr Loh's television. The teachers also joined in. (Mr Wong, Mr Ng and Mr Loh). At around 10 plus, we went back to hostel to rest and we decided to go back to shop again tomorrow. HAHA.
Because we feel that we had not enough money today to buy the thing we want, so we want to back again!!

Dampen our mood abit for shopping today.

Day 33 - Rainy Han Zheng Jie again

Greeted by the chillness of the rain outside.
It is a rainy day yet again.

But some of them need to change currency in a bank near han zheng jie area so we can also go shopping. HAHA. =D. But to our shocked, the bank will not change SGD to RMB but will change USD to RMB. So after much dicussion, they decided to pool money together to withdraw money from the ATM machine. After that, we walked back to the shopping mall beside Grand Ocean Mall and immediately went back to the shop to get our things. We chatted with the shop-owner. He is a young guy, that speaks quite fluent English sentences as he had studied in England for 2 years. Cool person and treat us like friends in his shop.

After awhile, we went off and went to the basement to find food as we have not eaten brunch. We saw a cool restaurant with nice western food. I ordered Grilled chicken with black pepper sauce. Quite nice and good price!! After that, we decided to shop around the shops at the basement. I bought a belt and dice and we head back for school since we were all quite tired.

Through all these while shopping and bargaining, i really learned how to lower a price of a product.

Tomorrow to Monday will be trip to Luling Shan Zhuang.

Day 31 - Presentation 2

Woke up early to do assignment at 830.
and we planned to go mac to eat breakfast.
but clive still want to sleep more so we go ahead without him.
my first time eating mac breakfast for since a year back when i started my polytechnic life.
and it is in China.
it was rather okay because the pancake was a smaller size than Singapore's.
then went back to finish up our assignment for afternoon's presentation.

We worked until 245pm before we really completed our presentation slides and report.
then quickly head to class at 3.
the sequence is like Process 1 - 2 group followed by the next process and so on..
Again I am nervous.
why????
i really want do well in assignment presentation as it is like the marks there for you to score.
anyway its over.
Be confident in year 2 presentations!!

the whole presentation ends at 6pm and all of us were either starved or energy low.
then few of us decided to try out the restaurant the Lsct students recommend.
overall, it was just okay because the price is abit pricey and the food is not filling for us especially with the 3 musketeers around.
HAHA..

and when we were directed to a room, we all were shocked.
because it was like a high class room.
settings of the table is also very nice and ambience of the room is just right.
Service is also very good.
they will always have a waitress in the room to serve you and clear your plates if they filled with waste food.
but we find it weird and we did not talk much throughout the meal.

went back to school then head to library to see their library and also help out in their revision in Econs tomorrow, Friday.
it was a wow when i first step into their library.
Everyone was just reading their own stuff and revising in quiet.
It is really no one talking in the library.
Conducive area to study.
Good!!
In Singapore, the library though is for reading and borrowing of books is not even a quiet place as compared to China.

We find our own way to survive and prosper, turning challenge into opportunity. Looking at how the WUST students were in the library makes me think of how hard they work for a university degree. I personally find them very diligent in their studies and always strive for the best. I had past one month in china already and they always ask you questions to clear their doubts. They always make use of every challenge to make themselves have a opportunity to learn. I really admire their culture in studing. I hope i do not have the mindset that singapore government is our supporter behind our back. Then we will learn that we need to strive for the best we can.

Day 30 - New WUST Campus Visit

Meet at 8 at the main gate and off we went to the New WUST campus for a campus visit.
their campus is so much different from us being it buildings and poeple.
their building is much more modern type of building and since their campus is very huge, you can hardly see any students on the streets of the campus. It looks like an empty school.

first, we had a walk in the museum which in the school's library. It is somehow same as Ngee Ann's 6/7 level library.
their museum layout is from the history to the growing years to the present from the entrance to the exit.
after that we went to visit their health science blocks.
This is where the future doctors and nurses are nurtured.
We went to their specimen room where are many many body parts specimens and skeleton.

also went to their ICU room and surgery room.

after was interaction time with them.
Some of the medical students introduced themselves and off we start our presentation for them.
the transport system in Singapore and Singapore Fine City.
after interaction time with game time with them.
Ngee Ann send 8 student, WUST send 8 students.
so we mixed.

then we head to canteen for lunch.
we can also use the food card to purchase food here in the new campus.
then after eating, we had a short walk by their campus's small lake.
cool right, to have a small lake to walk around in school.
then took some photos before heading back to school.

had a short nap then head for class for test 2.
last test for BPE.
but it was not easy too.
hope i will get better than the previous.

then had normal lessons at 10.
and hui miang not knowing there is more behind after the first cake she ate in the midnight.
HAHA..
when we came to class, we met them first at the lift area and went up together.
once in the class, we invited her to the table and we all gathered around her.
she opened the cake herself and once again, we sang birthday song for her again in 3 languages plus Mr wong's 'indian' birthday song.

and i got back my test 1..
to my expectations i got quite low.

Day 28 - Time flies

had consultation on assignment 2 from 11 to 12 which we asked questions to clear our doubts about the project.
then after that went to computer town to buy electronics which i think it was a fruitful trip for me.
Got a samsung earpieces and a hp mouse.
for just 125yuan which is like less then 30 sing.
Good deal right..

then quickly head back for school to start on our assignment 2.
and will have lesson/consultation tomorrow to ask further more questions on the assignment after we started on it.
then head for dinner at 6 which followed by badminton with the WUST girls.
went back to think of what to ask Mr Wong tomorrow.
and presentation is on thursday,
and test is on wednesday afternoon

Optical Fibre vs Wugang steel industry
one is clean technology while the other is considered dirty technology.
Comparing both, for singapore it is better to look towards the optical fibre and cable technology which is much cleaner as Singapore is now moving towards a clean energy and technology time. Though steel making is essential for growing the economy, Singapore does not have the sapce for such a much factory area to produce steel to be sold or used while the optical fibre technology can be utilizd in a limited area of land and this kind of technology conditions are more suitbale for Singapore. With Singapore capabilities, I believe we are able to have some market share in the world if we can enter the optic fibre technology. And optic fibre is like the next thing in the world that everyone wants a share of it. So Singapore should try to enter the market for the optical fibre and improve gradually to be ASEAN first optical fibre factory.

Day 25 to 27 - Joey's house Visit

After the Optical fibre and cable company visit, we (pei jie, zee min, wei guang and me) took the school bus back to school while the rest alighted at the shopping mall (销品贸).

met Joey, Cherry and Yepp at 130 and went to take bus to the Han Kou train station.
then we went to intot the station to wait for checking of tickets..
and we got the unlucky thing that happened..
out train was delayed by 30 mins as the WUST girls told us this does not happen very often.
then we boarded the train and off we set for the 4hour plus train ride.
first time seating this kind of train in my memory..
HAHA..
then reached 荆门 at around 8plus.
her dad was their already waiting..
her whole family is very friendly and good to us.
It feels like home to everyone of us when we all reached their home..
immediately, her dad brought us slippers to change into as the floor is cold.
very touched and guilty of that..
because i did not even serve my guest that came to my house that well.
i learnt something small yet significant in leaving a good and deep impression in people's mind.
deep in my heart, i am like speechless by their actions.
but their hosting is to the best they can do.

then we had fun after dinner.

woke up at 11 the next day on saturday.
then wash up and went down for brunch.
after which we went to shopping..
after shopping for a couple hours and much consideration, i decided to buy the nike socks.
and the girls went to do manicure..

then head back to Joey's house for dinner.
Dinner was AWESOME again..
Home-cooked food is like the best food in china.
i miss singapore's food ALOT..
then i slept at 4plus and woke up 10 am.
As Zee min and Wei guang prepare for curry chicken.
Joey's mum bought the ingredients and the chicken for us again..
a really very good host.
then we had dinner at 1 plus with other dished prepared by Joey's mum and aunt.
then left the house at 3 for the train back to wuhan at 450.
before that we went to the mall because zee min want to get the mickey bag.
then we reached the station at 340 and we start to queue as it was congested with people already.
in china, you need to be fast to get into a queue else you will be 'cutted'.
then head back for wuhan bt this time is to WU CHANG train station.
then reached wuhan at around 8plus and went to food street to eat dinner.
then start to blog once back to hostel.

Day 25 - Industrial Visit

Went to Yangtze optical Fibre and cable Company Ltd
It is the Largest in the China and 2nd largest in the world..
WOO right????
Basically, it is like a glass rod after the PCVD process, it will be melted at 22o0 degree celcius which will be then stretched to become fibre optics and then become cable wires which we are using right now. And the fibre optics after being melted out will be rolled into length of 200km and it is like the diameter of one strand of our hair.
the workers also had to wear proper wear to protect contamination of the process of making the fibre optics because just any small particle of dust land on the glass, the end product may have defects and may snap when doing the stretching and pulling process of the fibre optics.
Air is also constantly sucked out to have clean air also.

Day 24 - Interaction time

we had the last BPE theory lesson.

Times really flies in China and it is already coming to the end of week 4 and left 2 weeks in wuhan..
mixed feelings.
then lunch with pei jie, Hajar and Masita at the Muslim stall at the food street.
do not know there is such a stall and the stall people are very friendly.
I ordered 炒鸡蛋拉面. Very tasty!

then head back to hostel at stephanie's room to prepare for the interaction.
then head to West53 at 3 to start up the projector and do some last minute preparation.
I am really very anxious about my presentation later infront of 100plus people..
haha..
between 3 to 4, it starts to rain and rain down hailstone. what a scene that most of us missed!!
At 4, all of the WUST students are sitted at the lecture hall waiting for us to start our interaction with them.

First, are the LSCT groups then follwed by MDE and lastly end with RASA SAYANG SONG and A SINGAPORE song..
Xiang Yu and Wei Guang's group presentation are very funny and everyone's attention like raised immediately and everyone had a great laugh for Zee Min's spitting!!

Day 23 - Visit to hair salon

I am from the second batch for the flexism test.
because my laptop cannot support flexism software.
so i woke up later than my room mates..
HAHA..
and i went to lessons with Seok hui and stephanie.
we thought they will end early but when we got there.
they just started their test.
so we waited at classroom 702 from 1030 to 1125.
then hui miang came and we sat around till we can go into the classroom.

after test, went to food street to get tang bao and dou pi for lunch.
then went back for short rest before going for lesson at 2.
Chp 8 ended and tomorrow is the last lecture and last quiz before the presentation of assignment 2&3 and test 2 next week.
then we practice our song for tomorrow interaction time with WUST students.
Mr Wong also join in wth us in our dance and sing-along.
hope it goes well tomorrow.

woke up at 930 to do blogging and then went out for brunch at mac with Rand while Clive is still sleeping.
then finally saw the whole WUST campus map.

then we went to get toilet paper and washing powder.

Day 21 - Unpredictable weather

today's weather is cold again.
haha..
rain and wind blowing against you.
just a normal day today and
as usual mr wong will start about what we went last weekend and we also learnt more things from his explaination - Wudang Mountain is like surrounded by small mountains and is like a lotus flower that surround Wudang Shan. On the highest point of wudang mountain, there is temples built by emperor which goes there to seek direction from the God above. The emperor is like second to the God above. It symbolises alot of people surrounding praying to the second highest God. Cool right? how amazing the shape of the whole wudang area mountains can form such nice scene.

Reflections after a morning rain

Had lessons at 1pm and i woke up at 1220pm and quickly go bath and off we go for lessons.
had chp 7 lessons and followed by quiz as usual..
then quickly go to Pizza Hut for our brunner - breakfast/lunch/dinner.. HAHA

3 weeks have past in wuhan and i have already adapted to this place.

Day 19-20 - Wudang Mountain

DAY 19

Meeting time was 7am and we board the bus and begin our 5 hour plus journey to Wudang Mountain.
oh ya, Mr Ng (my econs lecturer) also came with us.
his fitness is 'zai'.
Reached wudang shan at around 1245..
And i love cherry a lot
had lunch and here we started our warm-up for tomorrow's real mountain climbing.
we climbed quite a short distance as compared to tomorrow's climbing.
We went to quite a number of temples..
we are like going up and down.
i can predict tomorrow's climbing will be similar.
then there is a red cloth to be bought which is for good luck and fortune.
You can hang it on the trees or hang it on the statues anywhere in the mountain.
also on your head too!!
we saw a group of teenages practising martial arts from their master.
and he is very precise of their moves and how they pose.
and left the mountain at 6 plus pm.
we went to back to the same restaurant for dinner..
meals are mainly vegetables and less meat..
i think its gotta do with their religion, Taoism.
then checked to their hotel.
i tell you..
this is the best accommodation i had in this trip.
good bed, good toliet and got tv set.
and can boil hot water.
best!!
but only rest for 1 night and only a few hours only and all are spent on sleeping..

DAY 20

left the 3 star hotel at 645..
left with a sad feeling..
because the room is too comfortable.
HAHA..
went back to the same restaurant for breakfast before leaving for Wudang Shan.
reached the visitor center at 8 then took the bus up and reached ther 840.
wait awhile for everyone to go toilet and off we go to start our climb of Wudang Shan.
Randolph, Ci Min, Winson, Vivian, Mr Wong and me was the last few..
clive at this do not how times toilet break, chiong up already.
so we slowly walked up.
Winson at some part of the climb cannot climb anymore..
so he sat on the sedan to the last point of the sedan can go.
when he sat on the sedan., he has the king look and looks very relaxed.
but the 2 person who carried him was having red-faced throughout.
and winson seems to be enjoying the carry.
but for his safety we asked him to sit on the sedan.
then we keep climbing and climbing thinking it will reach soon but when we looked up only half of the steps climbed.
haha..
we past 第一门，第二门，第三门然后朝聖门 then reach the point where we need to gather and we did not get the chance to go up to the 'jin ding'.
along the way we saw along of locks..
it is like blessings to your family or loved ones..
then you lock it along the chains and their blessings will be locked there till forever..
we reached around 1230 then sit cable car down..

then we did not went back to the restaurant to have our lunch as by the time, it wa already quite late.
then we settle our lunch at wudang shan's restaurant and most of the dishes is vegetable or consists vegetable.
then left wudang shan at 4pm had the 5 hour plus ride back to school..
was very hungry along the way..
then the tour guide. Han Xuan, bidded us goodbye in a very touching way.
she said it is again fate to see each other again for the second time.
because it is quite hard to see each other again for taking tour.
so we considered it as lucky to us to have such as good tour guide.
hope all the best for her in the tourism sector!!!

From this wudang shan trip, i find that the chinese take alot of pride in their heritage and their historical sites and places. They are proud of it. Day 18 - Han Zheng Jie

Had first test today from 9-11, actually there is no lesson.
and it was quite difficult.
did not even finish the paper properly.
i will have a higher chance of doing this test badly.
Just hope it is not that bad.
self-comforting.. HAHA..

after the test, we went to han zheng jie.
but somehow we do not how to go to the 'real' han zheng jie.
then we just walked around the han zheng jie area.
we saw what we wanted and bought it.
i bought a collar shirt.
then some bought belts, shirts and we went to their factory outlet stores to buy stuff..
the most deep impression is on Clive.
he is real hardcore fan of Playboy so when he saw the factory outlet store, he super ecstatic.
then he tried on alot of shirts and also bought alot of them.
HAHA..
then continued to shop and shop..
till Rand, Clive and i had to go ack to attend Ice Sea's Party.

then we went to KTV to celebrate.
first time KTV-ing in china..

Day 17 - Sakura Flowers

Last night, Mr wong came to our rooms to tell us his BPE cancelled for us to rest more and study for test on fri..
hehe..
thanks Mr Wong!!

so we (Hui Maing, Rand and I) last minute decided to go WuDa (Wuhan University) to see sakura flowers with Journey, Jason and Villa..
met Journey 8 am in the morning for breakfast.
then took bus to WuDa.
Bought a ticket for entrance of 10yuan to enter the university.
and their campus is big, and i really mean REAL BIG.
they even own a piece of mounatain behind or insde the campus.
Sakura Flowers are a beauty to see and when it starts to 'fall',
it will start to 'float' down..
what a beautiful scene.
the sakura flowers there are imported from japan. COOL..
how fortunate am i to see, Cherry blossom here and do not need to go until Japan to see it.
:)

headed back for school and had lunch at street with them.
and had LAST lesson for IS.
i am going to miss the cheerful voice of Xiaolin Laoshi mann...
though heavy in text, she still try to make the lesson more interactive and interesting for us..

we learnt about business etiquette and the YES and NO of doing business in China. The thing that i learnt is to have more friends and have good relationship.

What i saw from the the WUSt students and after 2weeks of geting along with them, i find them very hardworking and use their weekends to study for their test the following week. They are also well-prepared at least from what i see. If they want to get something done, they are also very determined to get it done and not only get it done but also done it to their best. Through i can sense alot of confidence in them towards their future, they want to do ther best and get a good job through getting into the CPC (a party in China where the youths get to know about politics and will have a better chance getting a better job if they can into the party) which means those who got into the party is a person with certain qualities in them that enable them to be into the party. For this, i know that they are untied, determined and well-prepared, for the future.

Day 15 - Wuhan Steel Mill Factory

today..
went to Wugang steel mill industry (武汉钢铁企业). It is China 3rd largest steel making factory followed by AnGang, HaoGang. It is my first time seeing steel making process. and Wugang is sort of a small city with 30000 - 40000 people living inside the Wugang with their families. In there, there is mostly all kind of facilities like school, supermarket and sports facilities and etc.. They also have their own train facilities for transporting steel around the factory. They also have their own bus and only that bus can operate in Wugang. And we waited for 10-20 minutes when the train was crossing across the road.
Working in the factory is very nosiy and the workers i saw were not on any protective things on their ears and this could be health killing..

Photography is not allowed in the factory so limited amount of pictures and mostly taken outside the factory.

Process for making steel pieces:
first, is melting of iron ore with limestone and carbon (harden the steel) at 2000 deg celsius. then what come out of the buring furnace is in a block of burning hot steel about 900 deg celsius. When it come of the furnace, it is red/orangish in colour, so can your imagine how hot is the steel. By like standing 5-7metres away from where it comes out, we can feel the heat that is on our face. Its demensions is about 1.7m by 0.8m by 0.05m ( if i did not heard wrongly from mr wong).. haha

second, it will be quenching to the steel. It is a process whereby hardening the steel. As it is still hot, it will be easy to be compress or change the shape of the steel block. It is being rolled automatically through a long conveyor and along the conveyor, it is being continous compressed to the desired thickness and the ends will be curved upwards after series of compressing thus the ends are saw off.

Last, water is being shot onto the surface of the compressed steel. There are 2 purpose. One is to cool the steel and the another is to wash off the impurities or grease collected along the conveyor and then it is rolled to the last process. It is then being rolled into rolls of steel. Then it is being bring along another smaller conveyor for steel rolls to be transported or store up.

after hearing what Mr wong said, about having steel making factories in China, it makes me think of my national service 2 years later. They want to have a protection for them if there was war in the past. Now, steel becoming an important part in industries, China benefit. They want to develop military weapons themselves and be dependent on military defense and this is a important point. Thus it makes me think about defending singapore when i go for national service 2 years later, we Singaporeans are responsible for own country security and well-being of people.

Day 14 - Fourteen days past!!!

Had normal lesson today..
BPE chp 5 and flexism program tutorial 1 & 2..
basically is just means adding conveyor, operator and things to lesson 1 and 2 stuff we learned.
after lessons, wet back to room to do blogging and finish up assignment 1 and the powerpoint slides.
presentation is on wednesday and test 1 on friday.
did not realise it is a lready the second week i am in wuhan..
fun times really past fast man..
friendship being built, joking, shooting and playing together..
for dinner.
went out with roommates, Mr Loh, Mr Ng, Mr Wong CC, Mr Chong and Mr Wong at 秦风酒店。
quite nice..
i like everyday eat good food at restaurant..
HAHA.

Tomorrow we are going to Wugang where it produces steel.
it is like some sort of steel industry in WUHAN..
weather is getting warmer like somehow in singapore
temperature is from 18 -25 deg..

We find our own way to survive and prosper, turning challenge into opportunity.
2 weeks have past in China, i have noticed many things i have not seen in Singapore. it makes me think of things i done before. this trip has really make me think alot. heard from the guide that the poor people waking as early as 5am to get this job of pulling the wooden boat. When i heard this, i was surprised as that was quite early. They may need to work on shift to get this job and this job is not paid well (30yuan per ride) and also most depend on the weather. Weather is good, income good, weather bad, income not so ideal. At Shennong xi, though it us just a short distance, they need to just ther bare hands and their physical body, they still find a way to pull it and making it a income for them and their family. I find they have a sense of wanting to get a better life by working more or harder and try to take any opportunity to earn more income. it really affect me as i have not work in holidays before. This really makes me think of i wasted my holidays away just like that doing nothing. Even Charlotte and Joey(WUST student) went out to do part-time on the weekends.. oh i am so ashamed of myself. I hope by the end of this trip i can have some positive changes in me to bring back to Singapore to show i learn something here besides academic.

Day 11 to 13 - YangTze River and 3 Gorges Tour on Cruise

DAY 11

leaving for the 3 gorges tour at 7am..
and it was raining with the wind..
it was woohoo..
it was a 5hour bus journey to Yi chang where we will have lunch and continue with tour at 3 gorges then around evening time then board the cruise ship.
Guess along of us slept on the 5 hour drive..
and photos was taken.
HAHA.. =D
after lunch, we continue the journey to 3 gorges by using the one and only expressway with numerous underground tunnel..
which after we took their tourist bus to tour around 3 gorges..
it was majestic.
with all the hills and mountains, dams and 5 level ship elevator and more..
pictures will show more..
we were late for the departure of cruise for about an hour.
which has effects on the whole journey next 2 days.
then board the ship and was very anxious to see the ship elevating at 10plus..
we started to wait at 9plus, to see the whole process.
Gate opening to ships going in to gate closing to water being pump in to allow the ships to be raised to gate opening to let the ships sail out at the higher sea level.
was fascinated by it.
first time viewing such scene.
then went back to room to slack for awhile.
waiting for the cruise to get to the 3 gorges 5levels of ship elevator.
around 2plus am, we waited at the 2nd level area to wait the cruise to starting moving into the first level of elevator to be raised up.
saw the cruise got into the gate and the water being pumped in a fast speed..
and we decided to go back to sleep.
and looking for tomorrow's tour.

DAY 12

Slept for a few hours and woke up to find us already in 3 gorges already.
went to ate breakfast then went back for a short rest before going out of the cruise for a tour deeper into the 3 gorges.
along the journey we came to know many famous or picture on notes or resemblance of something or someone.
then we sat on a short journey on shennong jia.
it is about a group of males in past time, use it to travel upstream as the river is getteing shallower and no boat can pass through..
so they use wooden boat to get upstream and they start to get down and pull the boat against the river flow..

saw them using alot of their strength.
then the tour guide saw song that was along the shennong river.
then got back to the cruise for lunch and rest till 4plus when they called us up to the viewing are to see the scenery and explained more to us..
saw the 'frog' mountain that is at the back of the 10 yuan note.
every country seems to have a scenery or place that is imprinted onto a note.
then alighted the cruise to go for tour at bai di cheng.
it is linked to the san guo yan yi..
had to climb about 1o minutes or so to the touring area..
saw liu bei, zhu ge liang and Cao Cao and other figurines in like a palace setting.
then headed back for cruise for dinner at 930.
after dinner, slack around and went to sleep already..
and the cruise is already on the way back to Yi chang, where we started..

wake up early and head for breakfast before leaving the cruise at 730.
had a longer bus journey back to school..
from 8 to about 330 in the afternoon.
7 and a half hour journey man..
back ache and bum pain..

on the way there was toilet break.
as well as a supermarket to but the local delights..
then just slept and ate a few biscuits along the journey.
a bummy ride..

Day 10 - "Steam-speaking" Day

was quite interesting.
finishing up about history of the kingdoms and dynasty to Republic of china to finally now People's Republic of china..
then we moved on to the Confucianism, Mencius, Taoism, and more aspects on religion stuff..
had a valuable time with xiao ling lao shi.

Learning Point
like what i mentioned in my learning plan.
i would like to understand more about their culture.
their culture is some sort different from Singapore.
their culture is that they do not have a habit to say a thanks or sorry..
for example in the service sector, be it food or serving customer.
to hear a thanks or sorry from us, they find it surprised or rather shocked.
and they are pleased to hear it.
they are also very hardworking from what i see and feel.
they always try to do things to their best, giving their best to earn as much to provide for their family or contribute to the income.
and also if you were just casually saying about things or things u want to get.
they will try to their best to get it done for you.
one good example is our host the WUST students.
i feel that they really out of their sincerity help us to better immerse into china.
really a great thanks to them.

Day 9 - China's History

today's morning lesson is cancelled.
shiok.
can sleep more.
haha.
then had lunch at canteen.
had IS lesson 2 on China history.
shocked to find out that China had 5000 years of recorded history.
there are 2 projects that the chinese are proud of.
they are the Grand Canal and Great wall.
they are also famous on their 4 Great inventions
1. Compass
2. Gunpowder
3. Paper
4. Printing

then in the 4 hr lesson, we went to talk about the various dynasties.
was rather interesting because knew how each dyansties was created and how the emperor created it.
through this history lesson, i found out that there was a female empress that rule the Tang dynasty for half a century..
she did not have any scripting on her tomb.
guess the reason was that she want the people to judge her by their own views.
but she killed her own daughter to get the empress seat.
but overall she was a good women politician.

lesson ended at 435 and went back for short rest before dinner..
dinner was recommended by Mr Loh..
meeting time at 6.
walked to the restaurant..
along the way was visits to Mr Loh's apartment, wet market and interesting things along the way.
dinner was delicious.
Yummy..
will definitely come back to eat.
and the lady boss recognised us, so we will have discount next time we come..
haha.. :)

Day 8 - Week 2 First Day

Lessons as usual for BPE at 10am and at 1pm.
lunch with roomates n Charlotte and Yepp at street at the same food stall.
they passed Rand their school DSLR for later's cleanliness competition.
Ended curriculum at 3pm.
then saw Zero and some other WUSt students at the basketball court
Clive and Rand join them in a basketball match.
WUST students are good at basketball and Rand n Clive are also not bad.
so we shall see how they perform in the basketball match.

then Rand and i went to help in the cleanliness competition in among the logistics students in WUST.
(rather is rand taking the photos of their room and i just go there to see)
first is the girls hostel.
then while rand was busy snapping, i was invited to Charlotte's room to play their version of 'dai di'.
they always have new ideas for forfeit and i find their games fun..

and students there look forward to a competition like cleanliness but in singapore, we youngsters do not give even much attention to these type of competition.
i really learn alot from them like there eagerness in all things they do.
they even plan for things 2 years ahead.
it really amazes me.
i guess that why China can rise so fast in the economic and world ladder.

and after that each of us bought a cartoon of 12 bottles of water.

today is a normal day in wuhan,
had lessons in the morning and afternoon.

Day 6 - SUNDAY aka Free n Easy Day

today is our free day!!!
finally had time to sleep much longer..
we singapore students always like to sleep till late morning..
GOOD...

But clive, hui miang and meng zhen went running in the morning..
which after that we went to theme park at HanKou (the WUST student brought us there)
cos we asked them to bring us out on weekends to play or shopping.
we meet them at 1pm and before that we went to canteen to eat for Breakfast/lunch..
we take bus there.
and always without fail, i will fall asleep even when standing..
then we reached already, we took photos while waiting for the rest to reach..

At the Zhong Shan theme park.
I played the roaster coaster (1st time so high de).
and the viking.
both of them i would say was rather okay only not thrilling enough (HAHA XD).
